Licensed Practical Nurse, Supervisor
Requisition Number 40350 Job Location Maryville, Tennessee- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) duties:
- Prepares treatment/exam rooms for examination of patients.
- Selects and lays out medical supplies; maintains medical equipment.
- Prepares patients for examinations.
- Provides care to patients per LPN scope of practice (Obtains basic chief complaint information from patients, measures vital signs, records information in patients' EHR, ear lavage, suture removal, etc.)
- Draw and collect blood/urine samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Provides routine information related to medical treatments and procedures.
- Completes daily equipment and quality assurance logs
- Compiles weekly list of needed supplies and assures par levels are maintained
- Escorts patients throughout clinic as necessary.
- Maintains comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean work and patient environments.
- Retrieves laboratory test results and patient chart information.
- Performs clerical functions related to medical activities.
- Supervisor duties:
- Supervises day-to-day LPN and MA-related operations, implementing clinical delivery objectives, policy and procedures for MA care.
- Escalation point for LPN’s and MAs level service issues; Act on any escalated concerns. Troubleshoot issues to completion. Escalate to Site Manager as needed.
- Provide input on LPN’s and MAs work assignments, schedules, daily functions of staff.
- Establish / oversee / assure effective LPN and MA workflows.
- Counsel staff when appropriate (solo and/or with management, depending on complexity)
- Identify areas in need of additional training /continuing education when appropriate;
- Assist with clinic audits.
- Facilitate efficiencies, e.g. reviews medical, vaccine and medication supply ordering for appropriateness. Assure and/or manage supplies ordering for own, possibly all sites.
- Assures that LVN’s and MAs have appropriately stocked their assigned rooms, supplies including vaccines, meds etc.
- Participate in Interviews for LPN/MA positions. Responsible for some portion of on-boarding and off-boarding paperwork and activities for LPNs and MAs
- Assists with coordination of new hire staff orientation and training.
- Reviews auditing and drill corrections documentation and ensures (along with Sites manager) LPN and MA staff follow-through on action items.
- 1:1 monthly meetings with LPN and MA staff and more often as needed.
- Oversees and/or conducts performance appraisals for direct reports.
- Assists with Accuracy of coding.
- Assist with clinic Quality: OSHA / Audits: Ensure staff follow-through on standards of delivery of care. Completion of incident reporting as needed. Maintain OSHA and Emergency Protocol. Ensures appropriate Quality Control activities are performed and documented per Premise standard. Educate staff on audit deficiencies and corrective actions.
- Assists with running/ reviewing reports to assure clinical quality
- Assists Sites manager to ensure LPN and MA competencies are completed and re-assessed on time and as needed.
- Assists with training and guidance to staff on progress toward achieving personal goals and clinic Performance Guarantees.
- Other duties:
- Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policies. Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Encourages co-workers to work safely. Identifies and reports “close calls” and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards.
- Participates in and supports staff meetings, training and goals.
- Lead projects of varying complexity and successfully complete project goals on time and on/under budget.
- Graduate of National League for Nursing accredited program, Associate's degree (A.S.) and/or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse
- Current hands on Certification in Basic Life Support is required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be required based on scope of contract services.
