W Squared currently has a full time opening for aStaff Accountant to work in our corporate headquarters in Brentwood, TN. This role reports to the Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller.

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant provides professional skilled accounting support, while maintaining a focus on the success of W Squared and its clients.

Essential Job Functions:

While the Staff Accountant’s responsibilities include specific daily activities and projects, there are also certain general responsibilities associated with being a member of a W Squared client service team.

Maximizing value for W Squared – recognizing the relationship between the company’s success and personal success – asking the question, “do my actions add value to W Squared?”

Being a partner with your client – regardless of the level of personal interaction with a client, the Staff Accountant is a vital partner helping clients achieve success. Remember – our clients ARE our business. Therefore, it is expected to be available in the office during pre-approved work hours (extenuating and occasional circumstances notwithstanding).

Personal/Professional development – a focus on personal and professional development is a characteristic indicator of a motivated team member striving for improvement and success.

Regular daily/monthly activities may include:

  • Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations  
  • Assisting with monthly, quarterly and/or year end close  
  • Preparing standard journal entries
  • Reconciling/analyzing of general ledger accounts
  • Preparing Financial Statement package
  • Assisting with variance analysis
  • Performing other monthly close activities  
  • Assisting with Cash flow forecasting, if necessary  
  • Assisting with preparation of audit & tax requests
  • Other tasks assigned by the Senior Accountants or Assistant Controllers


    Manage Projects Effectively – Act as primary support for the accounting team’s routine activities; proactively seek direct guidance, training, and correction from Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller.

    Take Initiative and Responsibility – Take ownership for results and outcomes on projects and tasks. Be proactive about asking your Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller if there is additional assistance that you can provide.

    Complete Tasks Accurately and Efficiently – Ensure that projects and tasks are completed with attention to quality and deadlines.

    Strive for Improvement –Discover areas for process improvement in order to advance the efficiency of the close process, expand capacity, and further professional growth and responsibilities.

    Value Communication – Maintain open communication with team members on progress, responsibilities, and expectations. Ensure any and all issues with meeting deadlines are raised to the Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller immediately.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • 1 years of accounting experience is preferred
  • Will consider relevant internship experience  
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) and QuickBooks
