We are looking for a Sr. Network Engineer, Tech Lead to remotely work at our Corporate office in Brentwood, TN! If you possess a “whatever it takes attitude” keep reading.

It’s hard to pinpoint a “typical” day here (and who wants typical anyway?), but as the Sr. Network Engineer, Technical Lead you have the key responsibility of being the technical subject matter expert for the team.  This position provides technical leadership to the team with respect to defining technology standards and security best practices, working with Enterprise Architecture for continued alignment and reviewing project design artifacts for large, complicated or non-standard designs. 

This position is also responsible for maintaining 24x7x365 networking environments.  The Sr. Network Engineer, Technical Lead designs, builds and operates the networks within the Premise Health environment.  Provisions networks per organization’s standards.  Monitors daily operations of networks and associated devices for availability and performance.  Develops and maintains operational documentation.  Responds to network alerts, investigates and recovers hardware and circuit failures.  Is responsible for the identification and resolution of service-level problems and the identification and support of mission-critical tasks.  Has communication with technical support groups, customer support centers, and vendors

What You'll Do For Us:

  • Acts as a subject matter expert for the technologies within the Network Engineering team
  • Leads the creation, documentation and maintenance of the standards and architectural artifacts of the team
  • Development of Knowledge Base (KB) articles
  • Functions in partnership with Enterprise Architecture to ensure standards and designs are in alignment with the overall Premise Health architectural goals
  • Be accountable for the following activities: Performance and tuning analysis, capacity planning, systems support, long-term strategic planning, problem resolution tracking, and software upgrades and installation.
  • Lead implementation and operation of network security tools and processes.
  • Mentor team members in technology matters
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system problems.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute network administrative tasks for assigned areas.
  • Serve as a liaison to technology vendors.

Education:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
  • TOGAF certification is a plus

Experience:

  • Principal: 10+ years experience in Network Engineer role

Core Platform Specific Requirements

10+ years of hands-on network engineer, specifically Cisco.

Detailed knowledge of Cisco IOS, Nexus line, and NGFW.

Detailed knowledge of Cisco and Meraki branch network hardware, with a detailed understanding of wireless networking.

Expertise in Cisco industry best practices, including security best practices.

10+ years designing, building and operating medium to large enterprise networks.

Strong understanding of internal and external routing protocols and best practices.

Expertise and detailed knowledge of IP and Ethernet.

Expertise and detailed knowledge of VoIP.

Expertise and detailed knowledge of WAN and MAN technologies.

Expertise and detailed knowledge of network security technologies including Network Access Control, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryption.

Expertise and detailed knowledge of network protocols and functions; IPSEC, HSRP, 802.11, QoS, WCCP, VPN, GRE, NAT, PKI, SNMP, RADIUS and others.

Detailed understanding of DNS and DHCP.

Expertise and detailed knowledge of load balancing and network redundancy techniques.

Proven track record of expert systematic troubleshooting skills.

Detailed knowledge of packet capture and examination tools, advanced knowledge of at least one tool.

Knowledge of Category 5/6/7 copper cabling along with various Fiber interface/specifications.

Solid understanding of the OSI model.

Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systems.
