About the role: The EPIC Optimization Business Analyst serves as a vital link between the IT Applications Optimization team and business stakeholders, focusing on executing independent research of Epic's features and functionality and identifying opportunities to maximize its value across the organization. This role emphasizes evaluating system capabilities, educating stakeholders, and supporting the organization in utilizing Epic to drive efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance user experience. The analyst will collaborate with product, clinical, and operational teams to assess existing workflows, uncover opportunities for improvement, and recommend solutions using Epic’s tools and capabilities. They will play an active role in identifying gaps, investigating issues, and promoting the adoption of underutilized Epic features to support organizational goals.

Essential Functions:  

  • Research and analyze current workflows to identify optimization opportunities and recommend Epic solutions for improved outcomes
  • Conduct day-to-day analysis by gathering and evaluating stakeholder feedback, identifying key business needs, and performing research to support well-documented and prioritized requests.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess needs and challenges, proposing data-informed solutions leveraging Epic functionality 
  • Monitor Epic usage, adoption trends, and upcoming features to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and additional training needs 
  • Create materials and facilitate discussions to educate stakeholders on Epic functionality, upgrades, best practices, etc. 
  • Synthesize features or problems independently and develop detailed business cases, outlining key information including business problem, goals and objectives, initiative approach, enterprise value, scope, assumptions, risks, & dependencies
  • Complete assigned feature assessments 
  • Participate in backlog grooming
  • Assist senior team members with various projects and tasks as needed
  • Demonstrate strong professional written and verbal communication skills when interacting with customers (internal and external) and on behalf of Premise Health
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and problem-solving mindset

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience of 5 years or more in a related field will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Requires minimum of two (2) years of experience in healthcare, product development, research, data science, reporting and analytics, or economics
  • Requires minimum of one (1) years of experience working in or with a relevant EMR or business application
  • Experience or familiarity with Epic workflows, functionality, or operations in a clinical or administrative capacity is preferred
  • Requires demonstrable experience in supported problem solving and creative thinking with ability to effectively weigh business, industry, and organization knowledge leveraging supported communication and interaction skills
  • Proven ability to assess features or processes, identify opportunities for improvement using analytical and critical thinking, and communicate data-informed insights to drive decision-making and stakeholder alignment.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at various levels of the organization, such as peers, internal/external stakeholders, business partners, senior level managers
  • Analytical Thinking and Problem-Solving - Strong analytical and creative thinking skills with the ability to quickly assimilate new concepts, business models, and technologies to make effective decisions and solve complex problems.

  • Facilitation and Leadership Abilities - Independent ability to facilitate discussions, lead and influence teams, manage conflict, negotiate effectively, and teach.
  • Tools and Technology Proficiency - Must be able to effectively use office productivity tools, business analysis tools, and communication tools. This includes but is not limited to the following toolsets: MS Office Suite, ServiceNow; MS Project; Video conferencing tools (Zoom, etc.); Collaboration Tools (SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Growth Mindset and Adaptability - Demonstrates a willingness to embrace challenges, learn continuously, and adapt to evolving needs and technologies.

Preferred Experience: 

  • Preferred Skills and Experience - Technical background or degree program, project management experience, and familiarity with structured methodologies are highly desirable.

While a number of factors influence salary, our estimated California, Colorado, Washington, and New York compensation is $65,000 - $75,000. Please note, this is a general guideline and your experience qualifications, geographic location, and other factors will be taken into consideration.
