The Data Product Specialist will bridge the gap between data engineering, data product management, and business stakeholders, ensuring that our data products are well-designed, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals.  You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the roadmap for generating analytical data products from Clinical products and external healthcare data. You will help shape a platform that manages data pipelines, transformations, and delivery workflows at scale with an eye towards building data products serve as the backbone for driving evidence-based decision making, precision health insights, and research acceleration. Working closely with engineering teams, you will contribute to technical decisions, and partner with privacy experts to enable scalable, compliant analytical data products and delivery solutions for internal and external customers. You will play a key role in understanding business requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and driving the successful implementation of data solutions that provide insights and value to the organization.


This is a Full Time, remote, Data Product Systems Specialist role.

What You'll Do
  • Support the product vision and roadmap for data products and delivery, aligning technical capabilities with business objectives.
  • Contribute to the Data Products strategy and help identify valuable data sources to combine with Premise product offerings and external data.
  • Serve as internal expert on data sources, how they integrate across systems, and the business value of each.
  • Partner with product managers to define product requirements, use cases, feature prioritization, and release scope based on user needs, strategic goals, and implementation feasibility.
  • Assess new datasets and feasibility of new data features.
  • Define functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, test cases, process flows, data mappings, and user-facing product documentation for new features.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) for dataset releases.
  • Coordinate across project stakeholders including Engineering, Compliance, Legal and Product by planning meetings, creating presentations, and delivering status updates.
  • Lead efforts to integrate new data sources into the organization's data ecosystem.
  • Ensure data product quality by conducting testing, validation, and performance assessments.
  • Monitor the usage of data products and gather feedback from users to inform continuous improvements.
  • Understand the policy, technical, and operational aspects of de-identification (HIPAA Safe Harbor, Expert Determination, etc.) and data linking.
  • Work with Product, Compliance, Legal and Engineering teams to implement scalable data solutions.
  • KPIs may include:
  • Reduction in manual data transformation steps through automation
  • Time-to-delivery from data ingestion to availability of analysis-ready datasets
  • Act as the liaison between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring effective communication of product features, limitations, and timelines.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on product development status, risks, and key milestones.
  • Document and communicate data product specifications, workflows, and user guides to enable clear understanding and adoption by business users.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance and security policies throughout the development and deployment of data products.
  • Monitor data quality and integrity across all data products, ensuring that they meet business and regulatory standards.
  • Work with data engineers and data stewards to define metadata standards, including data definitions, lineage, and data quality rules.
  • Train users on new tools and features, ensuring efficient adoption across the teams.
  • May require other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree required; healthcare or technical background preferred
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a data product owner or related roles.
  • Experience working with various types of healthcare data (e.g., EHR, claims, sensors, genomics ).
  • Proven track record of supporting infrastructure or platform products.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data privacy, tokenization, and data linking concepts, vendors, and best practices.
  • Technical fluency and comfort collaborating directly with Engineering counterparts, plus experience working with cross-functional teams including Product Design/UX, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Engineering
  • Strong understanding of data systems, data flows, data architecture, cloud platforms (such as Azure).
  • Familiarity with data processing frameworks (e.g., ETL, ELT) and data storage systems (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes).
  • Proficient in SQL and data query languages for data analysis.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and reporting solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think like a systems designer—mapping flows across multiple user types, channels, and points in the journey
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills paired with excellent execution and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, digital transformation, human-centered design, and modern product discovery/delivery practices.

Premise provides its reasonable and genuinely expected range of compensation for this job of $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually. A number of factors will influence the rate offered for this position, including your experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors. 


For individuals living in Washington or Colorado: Premise offers the following paid time off benefits. Employees will earn 0.0692 hours of paid time off per actual hours worked or based on standard schedule, per pay period, and will receive 10 paid holidays or an equivalent bank of hours aligned to schedule throughout the calendar year. Paid sick leave is satisfied by the paid time off accrual, detailed above.
