The primary responsibility of this position is to develop training material, modify/improve current curriculum, and work with stakeholders on process improvements for various clinical applications support by CAD. This includes the creation of learning content that will be delivered in person or virtually via LMS, facilitating new processes/upgrades, and participating in designing workflows. Instructional Designers will also collect and report on valuable feedback from trainees.


This is a full time, hybrid Clinical Applications Instructional Designer role located in Brentwood, TN.


What You'll Do

Creates engaging technical education training content for various clinical applications supported by CAD

Collaborates with team to develop skills enhancement training

Tests lesson plans and training environment build

Ensures training materials are up-to-date, making updates as needed

Facilitates study halls and personalization labs for attendees

Administers end-user proficiency assessments and in-system checklists

Supports end users with at-the-elbow go-live support as requested

Administers post-live refresher, optimization, and skills-enhancement application training

Provides support and troubleshoots issues that arise in the training environment

Assists with application “Super User” Programs

Secures training rooms, workstations, printers, projectors and screens, barcode scanners, and other equipment needed for classroom training as required.

Creates scalable training solutions

Determines the optimal way to deliver new system information to end users before upgrades

Works with team to create a series of refresher training classes to be implemented immediately following go-lives

Plans and executes a successful training program to be implemented after a system go-live

Outlines and creates additional educational plans as directed by manager

Assesses risks and issues associated with the training program


What You'll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Certification in Epic Systems applications is a strongly desired (Ambulatory, Curriculum Development, Access, etc.).

2 - 4+ years of experience in a technical training compacity.

Experience in training Epic enterprise implementation environment.

Experience in training clinical applications

Healthcare experience preferred (clinical documentation, front desk/registration documentation, and ambulatory clinic setting).

Experience in learning management systems (LMS).

Experience with project management, adult education, and curriculum delivery.

Experience with Adobe Captivate and HealthStream is a plus.

Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to quickly adapt to changes in the curriculum and the training environment.

Comfort using computers and the ability to quickly master new software programs.

Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

Capacity to manage multiple competing objectives and to clearly communicate results

Ability to lead others and to communicate the importance of training to all stakeholders

Uses critical thinking skills to support educational implementations

Facilitates staff education regarding software applications

Identifies opportunities for process improvement in support of operational initiatives

Strong organizational and coordination skills; ability to sequence activities logically

Ability to develop and adhere to time schedules in order to meet project deadlines

Interpersonal skills to function well in administrative, management, and patient care environments.

Ability to work effectively with staff that have a wide range of seniority.
